“Reiki” means ‘Universal Life Energy’ in Japanese, and is a natural healing system discovered by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, which promotes balance, harmony, and wellbeing.
Reiki offers physical, emotional, or spiritual support and harmonises with conventional and other complementary therapies.
Before booking a reiki treatment, finding a practitioner who you are comfortable with is the first step.
The practitioner will give a brief description of what a treatment involves, however, if none is offered, do ask. Treatment is given by placing their hands gently on or near your body. If you find any of the hand positions uncomfortable please tell the practitioner.
After a Reiki session, most people feel relaxed and peaceful. Emotional shifts may occur, and some might experience a short-lived healing reaction, like headaches or flu-like symptoms. If you have any concerns, discuss these directly with your practitioner.
The number of treatments varies. Healing is a process, and acute problems heal faster than chronic ones. Your practitioner may suggest multiple treatments close together, but you can decide the timing. Ultimately, you are responsible for your health and well-being.
Reiki treatment costs are usually comparable to other complementary therapies
